I am making a divider using plastic mesh and suction cups with the metal hooks.
what would be good to cover the end of the hooks with? they are not incredibly sharp, but i still feel like they would do some damage to betta fins/body when he rubs against it.
Mesh and suction cup divider. what can i cover the hooks with?
Use some silicon made for repairing fish tanks and tank ornaments. Cover all the metal well so it doesn't corrode (rust) as quickly being in water.
There also suction cups that are all plastic used to secure air tubing that you can find in pet stores. You might have to figure out how to attach it to the mesh and tank so there's no place for fish to sneak around the sides, but with this, you wouldn't have to worry about the metal at all: http://www.pets-warehouse.com/Vpasp/shop...
Reply:Drinking straws? You can buy a rubber product for tool handles but I don't know if it would be toxic to the fish. What about using long rods of plastic coated clothes hangers woven in and out of the mesh, then bend the top over the edge of the fish tank to hold the mesh in place? Or, you can go with your plan and buy little white plastic tips at the hardware store that would fit over the metal hook; these are used as little feety thingies or on the ends of men's tie hangers.
