Every time I try to install the hooks, they strip right out of the ceiling. I am trying to find some type of ceiling stud to screw into, but since I have to mount two hooks for each bike (I am trying to mount two bikes), I am unsure how to do this. Please let me know if you have experienced this and found a solution. I greatly appreciate the help.

Well it sounds like you are putting the hooks into a drywall ceiling, am i right? if so there are multiple things to secure things in drywall at any hardware store, anchors and such. now depending on the thickness of the drywall, this also may not work, then you need to get yourself a stud finder, find either the floor joists or ceiling rafters, depending on what is above your garage, find them. Then get a 2x4 one should be more than enough, so you can cut it in half or to length of each outside edge of your joist and screw those 2 pieces how ever far apart into the joist. then put your hooks into the 2x4. hope i explained that enough that you get what I'm saying and that it helps.
Reply:You have to screw the hooks into the ceiling beams, not just the drywall. Get a stud finder and hang them correctly.
Reply:I've never tried that. But if you can't find the solution, why not asking a professional help. I don't think that will cost a lot.

Reply:If you don't have a studfinder, buy one. They are super handy and great when hanging heavy things on your wall too. They are money well spent and some of them now have a laser level included with them.
I tried to find studs in my garage by tapping and it really didn't work out too well. Good luck.
Reply:Its not hard, you are right you just have to find a stud. Typically they are 16 inches apart. If you can get up in the attic you can confirm this. Find one stud and you just measure from the others.
You can find a stud finder at HomeDepot type stores or Walmart. But as you have learned you have to find a stud. The devices are cheap and easy to use.

can i use plugs or can i just screw in a screw. lolz.
or is there a better and safer way of screwing in hooks for the net curtains on the PVC window frames?

No problem, simply drill the smallest hole needed (1mm) as you are only drilling through 3mm thick PVC into the hollow frame, then screw in the hooks for your net wire or rod. You can buy 'stick on' hooks for net rods, but in hot weather the glue can become soft and they fall off quite regularly. So screwing in hooks are better and permanent.

Reply:DO NOT drill or screw into a vinyl window!!!! Any screws or fasteners that penetrate the vinyl will eventually work loose or break out if bearing any weight. You also stand the chance of damaging the mechanisims that aid in raising the sashs. Might I suggest attaching the curtains to the opening. You`ll probably find this a much more solid and stable base for attachment.
Reply:One way of fixing nets without damaging the frame is to use velcro. Stick self adhesive velcro tape to the frame and sew velcro tape to the nets. If you don't want to use tape, you can buy squares, dots and other shapes.

Looking for a 55gal portable filtration unit forswimming pool. Hooks up to 150gpm pump, 2" suction and dischge
This filter uses regular pool cleaning 2" hoses and hooks up to the pole and vacuum head. You use a gas or electric pump along with this 55 gal drum looking thing. The one I have seen before (can't remember where for the life of me) is a bright blue and was probably made out of heavy plastic. It will have a 2" suction inlet in front and a 2" discharge outlet in the back. Will also have some type of filtering system inside, maybe using cartridges. I'll be grateful for any help I can get. John

What's the best glue to stick plastic hooks to ceramic tiles.?
The tiles have a slightly raised pattern so they are not smooth. The self-adhesive hooks I've tried won't work and neither will superglue.

I agree with the silicone. make sure the tile is clean before applying. I like to use denatured alcohol as it cleans and dries quickly. Tape the hooks to the wall while the silicone cures. This insures a good bond and will keep them in place while the silicone drys. Clean up any squish out while it is wet.

The "hooks" are a quarter of an inch long and straight. They barely go into the skin. The barbs are needed because they are connected to wires that lead back to the Taser. The wire conducts the electrical shock from the Taser to the target's body. The wire is 16 to 21 feet long (depending on which cartridge you carry) and make it possible to use the Taser to subdue a suspect from a safe distance. Without the barbs and the wire the Taser would not be a distance weapon which is part of it appeal to law enforcement.
Agencies that have began to carry the Taser have actually reported a decrease in injuries to suspects and officers. This is because even though the shock delivered by a Taser is unpleasant it allows the officers to take someone into custody quickly and without much of a struggle. This means that their is not much of a fight and less chance of someone getting hurt.
I have been Tasered six or seven times now and used my Taser in the field to take a resisting suspect into custody. I am still very much alive and none of my resisting suspects suffered any real injuries.

Here is the calculus for tasers:
Balancing the officer's need for something other than a regular gun v. not having the officer be trigger happy with their taser when they could use other methods (spray, physical restraint, etc.).

My perp had a broken hand, three fractured ribs, a fractured shin, cuts, bruises, and contusions. He spent a couple night in the hospital and two years in prison.
All of that, Nickle, could have been avoided with a single shot from a Tazer. Neither of us would have been hurt. He probably would not have gone to prison. I bet if you could ask him now, if he could re-live the incident, for a choice between the beating and jail time or a jolt from the Tazer. He'd beg for that Tazer.
Reply:A taser gun does shoot 2 small darts that are attached to fine wires. These darts and wires carry the electrical charge to the body of the person shot with it. The idea is that the operator of the taser gun is able to control the person from a safe distant. Now it might seem that this is an inhumane device but when you consider that the use of more force could result in the major injury or possible death of someone, then this device might be the lesser of 2 evils. The taser can be misused just as any tool can. I hope that you never have to be on the receiving end of one. Have a happy holiday season.

Reply:It is better than being shot, that's for sure. Right there, and right then, you will gain nothing by confrontational behavior with a police officer. Things can only go downhill for you. There will be a time before a judge when you can present your side of the story. Those tasers, all kinds, are not pleasant, avoid them if at all possible.

The idea is that the operator of the taser gun is able to control the person from a safe distant. Now it might seem that this is an inhumane device but when you consider that the use of more force could result in the major injury or possible death of someone, then this device might be the lesser of 2 evils. I have a ton of dress pants that I wear to work with trouser hooks or the slide-in fasteners and I'm outgrowing all of them. Has anyone found a way to belly band them? I'm not big enough for maternity clothes, but want to be comfortable.

For a pine tree, what type of hooks, nails, screws can I use to insert into pine tree without damaging it?? Is there a type of metal I need to use? I want to put up clothes line and bird feeder attached to pines but don’t want to harm. Thanks!

Pine trees have a natural defense. They encase any foreign object in pitch if it is harming the tree.
You can really screw or nail just about anything you want into a pine tree without damaging it.
The main thing to remember is the way a tree grows. It adds a lay each year and if you have a screw, eye bolt or nail in the side of the tree eventually the item will be covered by the trees growth.
It is a good idea to have something that can be removed and put in a different place as the tree grows.
We have at least 25 to 30 pines on our lot and we haven't lost one yet to nails or screws in the side of the tree.

Birdfeeders are probably best attached to a branch well away from the clothesline. Those can simply be hung from a rope, or you can use a nut and bolt arrangement or just a good sized eye screw.

I find that when using larger needles for example - I use 15's when 8's are recomended. it makes my work go alot faster, and way more flexible. You want to keep in mind that when you use a larger size when working from a pattern (when gauge is important) you'll want to adjust the number of stitches and rows so your end result is about the same size as the one from your pattern. You also need to keep in mind what kind of knitter you are; do you knit loosely? or do you knit tight? You can easily find out by knitting up a swatch of your yarn with the needle size recomended on the yarn label. If your swatch is smaller you knit tight and want to use a larger needle, if your swatch is larger than you knit loose and will want to use a smaller needle. I hope this helps.

In fact, when you start hitting the bulkier yarns, it's much better to size up your needles accordingly.
A word of advice: For anything above a size ten, I'd recommend wood, plastic, or bamboo needles...aluminum gets very hard on the hands at those sizes.

I do this once each year, I have never used a window cleaner, never bought any special cleaning stuff for windows.

Try using this solution 5 gallon bucket filled with warm water half a cup of sudsing ammonia and a squirt of regular dawn (blue) dish washing liquid
that is what the proffesionals use, no streaks and clean...dont forget a window mop for cleaning the surface and a squeegee

Why is it that when a guy hooks up with a lot of girls..?
I'll give you some reasons why below that are from a developmental perspective, but essentially, the primary reasons why are (1) male sexism which treats women as less than men, and (2) the difference between how men and women view sex.
Anthropologically and historically, almost all societies have been patriarchal, as in male dominated, and polygamy was widespread in ancient times (and is still practiced today in 3rd world countries).
From an evolutionary standpoint, the survival of any species has always been dependent upon how many progeny you could produce and raise to adulthood, so since it takes 9 months for one woman to produce one child, it makes sense in this regard for men to seek out as many females to bear their offspring.

If they are out of shape, clean them with soapy water, rinse them. Clean the glass. Have a container of boiling water nearby. Drip the suction cup briefly. It will soften it. Immediately press onto window glass. Hopefully it will dry and remove the misshape.

I'm not sure what type of lures you're using, so I'll try to cover what I can.
Changing out parts is something many/most avid fisherman do regularly. eg. I throw Cordell pencil poppers, but the hooks bend because they're weak, so I replace them with Gamikatsu 2x trebles. They are topwater lures, so there's not much risk of over weighting them or ruining the action by changing hooks out. With other bass-type lures, buzzbaits, crankbaits, jerkbaits, swimbaits, etc...I usually swap the hooks out. With larger lures that have three trebles, I'll generally take out the middle hook to prevent the hooks from touching and tangling on eachother while working the lure. Also., once a fish is hooked, it prevents the middle hook from interferring and potentially aiding in disloging the other hook. Trebles will increase the number of hookups because, well, there are three hooks, not one. Single/siwash hooks are better at keeping fish hooked. However, when using barbed hooks, it's a little harder to make the comparison, but it's still there. Single hooks also offer a longer shank, making it more difficult for a head-shaking fish to shake the hook out.
When salmon/sleethead fishing with plugs, I'll swap out hooks with single siwash on chain swivels. This has proven to be the most effective configuration for me.
In general, changing hooks out will not ruin the action of lures. If there is a change in the action, 99% of lures made now are "tunable" in one way or another. Most manufacturers include the directions in the packaging.

Sorry, that's a fact. Replace trebles with trebles of the same or slightly bigger size. Lures with 3 trebles, take the middle one off. But you will lose some fish. Reply:Those trebles improve chances of catching a fish. I have removed or replaced several trebles. Sometimes just to change size or to add better quality hooks. When I'm dragging a lure on the bottom I take the belly hook off (to avoid hang-ups) and just rely on the single hook on top. I have taken trebles off the back and replaced with a feathered treble or those hooks that look like a small frog hook. A couple of Storm lures I have only came with one belly treble. Not sure if it alters action too much, but there are times when I removed a hook and still had a good day of catching.

I know they make the hooks to put in the rafters of a garage to hang a bike upside down on. Seems like the weight of the whole bike would be on two small spots on each rim. Will rims bend slightly with time ?

Sure over years of time. If you really don't plan to use your bikes for years at a clip, then why bother having them? At least that's the way I look at it. Besides, how much does your bike weigh? 25-30lbs? OK, divide that by two and then remember that each time you take it down and put it up, it's going to be a different spot on each rim. Then think about how much weight each rim actually supports when you ride around on it, not to mention the amount it takes for even a small impact say from a rock or a pothole? I'd say it's fine up there.

Reply:I have 35 bmx bikes and every one of them hangs by the rubber coated hooks,No the rims will not bend over time. I have had bikes hanging from those hooks as long as I can remember and never have I came across a tweeked rim due to hanging them.

OK to store bike hanging from hooks?
Sure over years of time. If you really don't plan to use your bikes for years at a clip, then why bother having them? At least that's the way I look at it. Besides, how much does your bike weigh? 25-30lbs? OK, divide that by two and then remember that each time you take it down and put it up, it's going to be a different spot on each rim. Then think about how much weight each rim actually supports when you ride around on it, not to mention the amount it takes for even a small impact say from a rock or a pothole? I'd say it's fine up there.

Reply:I have 35 bmx bikes and every one of them hangs by the rubber coated hooks,No the rims will not bend over time. I have had bikes hanging from those hooks as long as I can remember and never have I came across a tweeked rim due to hanging them.

okay, its 1:03am, and I'm looking on the web for hooks you can stick on and hang your pictures or stuff on them. I am "brain dead" right now, and can't think of how to say it on the web search lol. So what are they called? Thanks.

Hmmm...guess I just learned something from the ReDesign diva....They really don't damage the wall surface???
I don't know a specific name, either, but I would not use the adhesive kind. They can very easily (read will) remove a big patch of paint/drywall if you ever want to move or remove them.
Use the type that uses a very small nail. They go into the wall at an angle, supporting the load nicely. You can get different sizes that have different weight loads. and when you need to remove them, there is just a tiny little hole that hardly ever shows.
I would look under "picture hanging"

my friend is allergic to all metals and when she puts earings in her ears go red and itchey. shes tryed good quality gold and silver earings but its all the same. is there anywhere i can buy plastic hooks that i can put on her existing earrings?

I have sensitive skin and I'm allergic to nickel. Some stores at the mall have these clear plastic sleeves to put over the metal posts but you can also paint clear nail polish over the posts as well....apply 2 coats an be sure to do this the day before you plan on wearing your earrings.

I'm interested in making homemade bread. I have an electric mixer with what they call dough hooks. Can I use them to do the kneading?

yes yes yes...I use mine all the time....the kneading time though is not like when the recipe calls for kneading (like 10 minutes or what ever) but when the dough starts clinging to and riding up the dough hook...the dough is done kneading.....mine turns out perfect every time and I use it often.....good luck

That cheap brand is fine for mixing, but not beating or kneading. I find my hand mixer better for beating egg whites and just about everything else. I should dump that cheap stand mixer. It's more trouble that it's worth and doesn't do a good job.
Spend a few more dollars and get a Kitchen Aide mixer. It's priceless.

If you take a look at an F250 you will see that these hooks are provided. Use this example as how to mount yours. Just mount them in a way that they can be connected to without interfering with the front splash pan or bumper

My braces dont have any hooks at the end. is it just fine?
I just had my braces last week both upand down.and as i noticed it doesn't have any hooks or any wires after the last brace attached to the last tooth.is it just fine? and also every brace is not placed in a single line.one brace is placed in different angles.it made me think that maybe my brace will not be a success. my problem is underbite.it's not that serious but my lower jaw seems to move forward more. can a dentist perform such job? or an orthodontist only.if ever what should i do if i found out that he's not a real orthodontist and the outcome of my braces are worse. can i initiate a legal action?

Where can I get crochet hooks cheap?
We are taking crochet hooks and yarn to a small village in Mexico and I need to find the best price to buy them. Any suggestions?

You may want to consider purchasing the hooks %26amp; yarn while in Mexico -- did you know Susan Bates, a crochet hook maker, has one of their manufacturing plants there? You may get a better deal there AND not need to transport them.
Otherwise, check ebay %26amp; amazon. If you have a Rag Shop near you, check with them too -- they filed for bankruptcy and have been offering coupons of 25% -- 40% off your entire purchase.

Reply:(1) Try eBay and look for huge lots. You see people sometimes selling as many as 50 hooks at once. A lot of crocheters won't bid on the lots because they're looking for specific brands or sizes.
(2) For Knit Out and Crochet Too events, we write directly to the manufacturers and request donations. This has worked also for Girl Scout badges where we're teaching a group. if it's a charity thing, you may get donations from the manufacturer as long as you properly give them the credit for their generosity.

What is the easiest way to change treble hooks on a crankbait?
I have he!! trying to change hooks on some crankbaits especially when adding a larger than original hook . Some of the rings are tight, Any secrets for getting the ring opened to change them with ease?
What is the easiest way to change treble hooks on a crankbait?
Look at your tackle store for a pair of split ring pliers. They are specially made pliers for spreading the ring apart so you can remove a hook and reattach another one. It takes a little practice but basically you put the end of the pliers that drops down right where the end of the split ring coil is and the squeeze the handles together. The coil will separate and then you can slip the eyelet of the treble hook into the gap , then just work the hook around until it comes out of the ring. Then separate it again and start your new hook onto the ring. When you get the hang of it you will be able to take off the old hook and start the new one on at the same time. I know this sounds difficult but it is one of those things that is hard to describe without being able to demonstrate. Also, don't buy the cheap split ring pliers that are flat........they will not last and the point of the pliers becomes distorted after just a few uses. Buy a good pair ($5-$7) with good handles and a wire (line) cutter near the hinge. Like I said, it takes a little practice but when you get the hang of it you will be able to change hooks in no time at all. One more thing, when you buy the pliers go ahead and get a pack of split rings because sometimes when you remove a hook the ring will become bent and will not go back to its original coiled shape..........if this happens then go ahead and replace it.

I replace the split ring and the hooks at the same time.Normally I just clip the ring off the crank bait and then put the new hook on a new split ring then with a jewlers screw driver I open the ring enough to go over the loop in the bait.
,the just turn til the split ring is on.
Reply:Rapala has 2 pairs of SRP's. One is twenty bucks, and the other is only ten bucks. Both work the same, except the material is better quality in the higher priced pliers.
The only problem is on some plugs the split rings are soooo tiny that you can't get the little nipple in there to open it up. When that happens, I cut the tiny rings off, and replace them with larger split rings that can be opened with the Rapala pliers. Stay away from the cheaply priced pliers though-remember, you get what you pay for.
Reply:Split ring pliers are good. You can use a sharp knife to open up the ring too, make sure you are carefull or OUCH! Another way too is simply find a good new set of split rings with a trebble that opens easily then snip the old one off

What is the easiest way to change treble hooks on a crankbait?
Look at your tackle store for a pair of split ring pliers. They are specially made pliers for spreading the ring apart so you can remove a hook and reattach another one. It takes a little practice but basically you put the end of the pliers that drops down right where the end of the split ring coil is and the squeeze the handles together. The coil will separate and then you can slip the eyelet of the treble hook into the gap , then just work the hook around until it comes out of the ring. Then separate it again and start your new hook onto the ring. When you get the hang of it you will be able to take off the old hook and start the new one on at the same time. I know this sounds difficult but it is one of those things that is hard to describe without being able to demonstrate. Also, don't buy the cheap split ring pliers that are flat........they will not last and the point of the pliers becomes distorted after just a few uses. Buy a good pair ($5-$7) with good handles and a wire (line) cutter near the hinge. Like I said, it takes a little practice but when you get the hang of it you will be able to change hooks in no time at all. One more thing, when you buy the pliers go ahead and get a pack of split rings because sometimes when you remove a hook the ring will become bent and will not go back to its original coiled shape..........if this happens then go ahead and replace it.

I replace the split ring and the hooks at the same time.Normally I just clip the ring off the crank bait and then put the new hook on a new split ring then with a jewlers screw driver I open the ring enough to go over the loop in the bait.

Reply:Rapala has 2 pairs of SRP's. One is twenty bucks, and the other is only ten bucks. Both work the same, except the material is better quality in the higher priced pliers.
The only problem is on some plugs the split rings are soooo tiny that you can't get the little nipple in there to open it up. When that happens, I cut the tiny rings off, and replace them with larger split rings that can be opened with the Rapala pliers. Stay away from the cheaply priced pliers though-remember, you get what you pay for.
Reply:Split ring pliers are good. You can use a sharp knife to open up the ring too, make sure you are carefull or OUCH! Another way too is simply find a good new set of split rings with a trebble that opens easily then snip the old one off

Get the metal ones , just for masonry,Also get a masonry drill bit .Now,if you go to the Depot, they should be just before the plywood aisle,with the chain,and hinges,stuff like that. I accidentally seem to have broken the 2 hooks on the microwave oven's door?
They 2 little knobes/hooks are still in place but have become loose such that when I close the door, they don't hook into place in the main body of the oven and don't seem to lock the door. Please advise what needs to be doen. thanks .

Hi Is the microwave built in to the wall? If yes you might need to call an appliance company. Do not attempt to use the microwave. It wont work right any way, those hooks activate three switches inside the unit. If it is less than a yr its under warrentee and No charge. If its a table type model its probably not worth fixn. Lindy Rig for walleye in Minnesota with 3 hooks?
My friend makes these "lindy rigs" with beads and a blade and then 3 small hooks at the end spaced an inch or 2 apart from one another to hold a worm (think this is called a worm or crawler harness). My question is since in minnesota you can only have one hook, is this legal??

Reply:Go to your local fishing store and find "Stink Bait". Right next to that will be treble hooks that have a rubber sack around the hook. Squeeze the stink bait inside and cast it out on the bottom. You will not have any mess on your hands.

We put any bait that won't stay on a hook (like doughbait or chicken livers) in the middle of the small sqaure and wrap the corners around it. Put this on your hook and it'll stay without losing any effectiveness of your bait. Be sure to soak your squares in the stinky bait first to get the human smell off of it.

But, honestly; the BEST bait I've ever used, for Carp, is to "Sight-Cast" a small piece of white-bread, squeezed into an air-less dough-ball on your hook! You can "Chum" them up, with bread-pieces, first; if they are hard to see.
Super-cheap bait; %26amp; ANY trebble-hook will work!
P.S. Carp SUCK, as "Food-Fish"; but, they put-up a WORLD-CLASS FIGHT, on light-tackle!

Reply:try whole kernel corn open can let set out in the sun for a day you can put 3-4 kernels on each point of a treble hook and can throw sume around to bait them in
Reply:Why don't you just shoot 'em! They really don't even make good bait. LOL! Throw a hand grenade in and watch 'em float up.
Reply:Go to your local fishing store and find "Stink Bait". Right next to that will be treble hooks that have a rubber sack around the hook. Squeeze the stink bait inside and cast it out on the bottom. You will not have any mess on your hands.
