A knot to connect 130pound monofilament to 12/0 hooks?
When using 130 pound mono, it's better to crimp it. Go to your local tackle shop and tell them you need crimps and a crimping tool for the size line you use. Make sure they show you how to use it or the crimps may slip or cut your line.
Reply:You can use a double San Diego Knot...The only problem is that the knot is hard to pull taught because the mono is so thick. With 130 its usually crimped. If you want to get a good idea of doing this go to Bloodydecks.com. They have a lot of good informationals on what knots/hooks combos work. If not you can always ask. These guys on this site are hard core and work the San Diego Long Range fleet alot and I am talking about 30 - 300LB fish . I do those too but I am just not that hardcore and I am still only into my 5th season of Long Range Fishing.
Reply:when ive been fishing ive always used the grinner knot,im not sure if this will work with what you require, but worth investigating.
Reply:130 lb mono have you tried palomar knot. what are fishing for?
Reply:you need to use the palomar knot. It is the only knot that will truly hold, ive been fishing for 20 years now and Ive won the gold pin for Northern pike this year
