I am beginning to learn how to knit and crochet and I am curious, how many sizes can you get knitting needles and crochet hooks in?
Knitting needles %26amp; crochet hooks?
I have been crocheting since I was in the fourth grade and Im 55 now! lol It depends on what you want to crochet for the size needle. Cotton thread requires anything from 000 to 15. the larger the number the smaller the size. Regular yarn uses B to K. The larger the letter is the larger size yarn. I know there are some larger size needles and I bought some but have never used them.(By the way I have every needle I ever bought including the first size 7 ) I hope this makes sense. Reply:Check one of the craft stores on line and they will show you the various sizes and price of them I would you suggest that you but only the needles you need and when checking you will find there are two different type of crochet needles. One is for crochet thread and the other for yarn. The one for thread is identified by number and the yarn by letters. I have never tried to count the different sizes for each type of needles but have found that you can get on line and ask for sizes of and then put in the crochet or knitting and they give you the list and comparable sizes in other countries and the size of thread it is used on.
Reply:u can get both knitting needles and crochet hooks in lots of sizes (depending on the area u are in some stores may carry more variety then others). they are availabe at craft stores or walmart. its easier to learn with a slightly largher crochet hook and sport or worsted weight yarn. i suppose the same would be for knitting all though i haven't much experience with that. i have just learned to crochet myself and found it rather easy to pick up.

Are there hangers/hooks made specifically to screw onto doors?
Our bathroom is fairly small and we would like to have some extra hooks for towels on the back of the door...are there specific ones made for doors so they are stable once you screw them on?

If your doors are hollow instead of solid, you can change the screws that will hold any hooks you buy to the kind that have either the plastic expansion pieces that go in first, or an expander that spreads inside the hollow portion. It's not the clothing hook that's special, it's the screw that comes with an expander that's special. These are often provided with hooks since most hooks are installed in sheet rock walls in places where there may not be any beam to screw into.
The ones that work on sheet rock walls, also work on the hollow doors.
Another option is the 3M Commando hangars, which have an excellent adhesive to hold them in place.
Even hollow doors are built with a limited amount of solid framework and you may be able to screw into those.
I do not use the over-the-door hooks, although they are a viable option in some situations. I never had any difficulty getting the screws with the expanders to work just fine on my hollow doors.

What are those hooks on the ceiling for?
I have these small hooks on the ceiling in several rooms. My husband thinks they're to hang plants, I think maybe they held the cords for the lights at some time.

We once had a wicker shaded swag lamp that came with a couple of decorative hooks to put in the ceiling to hold the chain wrapped cord up and for the actual hanging of the lamp. It was very cool at the time...a little outdated now. My retro minded son recently found it and claimed it...LOL.

Double ended crochet hooks - How do I use?
My grandmother gave me a slew of crochet supplies when she died. I know how to use the regular crochet hooks, but how do you use the double ended ones?
Also, what about the ones with the strip of plastic attached in between? (They can wrap around for storage.) I don't REMEMBER seeing her use them.

Cro-Hook, you use 2 different skeins of yarn and crochet. I love this hook it has 2 different looks on each side and you only use one hook at a time. the hardest part is getting the afghan started and then ending it. The blanket is double sided. I have made a baby afghan in yellow, blue, and green it is so pretty it takes a while to make and it also seems to take more yarn but the end result is very pretty. It's worth learning to use. I've seen the ones with the plastic connector but I don't know how to use them.

these hooks are used when you are working out in the gym,they strap around your wrist to help you lift more weight. I want the old fashion one,which are shape just like an (s),i think they are made by Lee Haney.
